Who Is Not A Suitable Candidate For A Bichectomy?

In almost everyone’s facial anatomy, there are small fat pads in the cheeks called  ’’bichats’‘ (Bichat’s fat pads). These fat pads are one of the anatomical structures that give the face its shape. Depending on the general facial anatomy and facial proportions of the person, the reduction of these fat pads by a bichectomy operation can provide an improvement in appearance of the individual.

With a bichectomy operation, these fat pads can be reduced by partial removal or removed completely through very small incisions made inside each cheek in the mouth. With this procedure, it is aimed to create slimming in the lower cheeks, along with a dented, shadowy appearance between the cheek bones and the jaw if the patient’s anatomy is suitable. The slimming effect in the cheeks can be seen in almost everyone, while the occurance of the mentioned, pleasent, dented, shadowy appearance can be said to be related to the patient’s cheekbones and jaw structure.

The fat tissue that is removed from inside the cheeks with the bichectomy operation is present in almost everyone. However, everyone is not suitable for having this tissue taken out. The slimming in the cheeks and the increase in definition in this area that are aimed to be created by a bichectomy operation, can provide great results in suitable anatomies. But in anatomies that are not suitable, this operation can cause side effects in the appearance of the patient. The fat tissue inside the cheeks known as Bichat’s fat pads that are reduced with a bichectomy operation and the overall cheek volume, can lessen in time as the person ages. Therefore, if the amount of the removed fat tissue is more than it should be, the person can experience a gaunt look in the cheek area in time. The amount of fat tissue to be removed should be determined individually for each person. While some people can have a large amount taken out and not experience any problems, some people are suitable for having only a small amount removed, or none at all if their anatomy is not suitable.

The person who is going to undergo a bichectomy operation is expected to be healthy and have a good wound healing capacity. It is also preferred that the person to have the operation has not lost the elasticity in their facial skin and that there is no excess skin or sagging in their lower face area.
