What Is Brow Lift Surgery?
With natural aging, many people can experience sagging in the eyebrow area. Over time, sagging in the eyebrows and forehead can be observed, which can cause a frowny, tired or sad appearance that may be permanently present. As the skin and soft tissues lose their elasticity, the distance between the eyebrows and eyelashes can also shorten. Some people may have congenital low eyebrows and this can again have similar effects on the person’s appearance. Surgeries performed to improve the position and posture of the eyebrows are called brow lift surgeries.
A brow lift surgery (sometimes called a “forehead lift”) can improve sagging in the eyebrow area and provide rejuvenation and improvement in the appearance of the upper face. Brow lift procedures can raise the eyebrows, creating more openness for the eyes, and it is possible for them to reduce frown lines (vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows). In cases where eyebrow asymmetry is present, a brow lift operation can also improve this condition.
Various brow lift techniques are available and used. Apart from differences between sexes, there tends to be many individual variations in eyebrow structure. Beyond the limitations caused by a person’s underlying skull structure, aging, skin and muscle looseness, and the effects of gravity are also aimed to be taken care of.
Therefore, when performing a brow lift operation, the chosen brow lift technique should be selected and applied to the individual structure and needs of the patient. A brow lift can also be performed alone or in combination with other facial procedures such as eyelid aesthetic surgery (blepharoplasty) or facelift.
