How Long After Giving Birth Can You Get A Breast Lift?

A woman’s breasts may need to be lifted due to many reasons. There may be sagging and loss of firmness in the breasts due to genetic, congenital breast structure, gravity, radical weight gains and losses, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Breast lift surgery is a surgical procedure that changes the shape of the breasts to lift them and make the breasts more perky. Basically, the excess skin in the breasts is removed, the remaining skin and tissue are reassembled, tightened, and the breast is lifted and made firmer. The goal of breast lift operations is not to change the breast size, but to change the shape and consistency of the breasts. Two main conditions can be mentioned as external factors affecting the results to be gained from breast lift operations. The first one is pregnancy and breastfeeding, and the second one is intense weight gains and losses.

Due to the changes that occur in the breasts during the processes of pregnancy and breastfeeding, changes in the shape, volume and firmness of the breasts may occur. Some of these changes are already targeted to be improved by breast lift operations. For example, due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, the breasts can first increase in volume and then experience a volume loss after these processes are completed. Loss of firmness, looseness, sagging may occur. Therefore, for someone who is planning to go through pregnancy and breastfeeding in the near future, it can be recommended to postpone the breast lift operation until these processes are completed.

Some changes occur in the breasts due to pregnancy and breastfeeding. The shape of the breasts may change, the breasts may take a larger size than they normally are due to the growth of the mammary glands for the production of milk. Ideally, cosmetic breast surgeries should be performed on breasts who have stopped producing milk and no longer change in size and shape. When the breastfeeding process is over, changes in the size and shape of the breasts occur more slowly. Therefore, it is recommended that the patient waits at least 6 months after the completion of these processes before having a breast lift surgery. At this stage, most of the changes in the breasts are completed. Waiting for the completion of all these changes to perform a breast lift surgery will make the results of the surgery more predictable. As the cases may vary from patient to patient, the right time for a patient can be specified by their physician.
