How Is Weight Lost In The Cheeks With A Bichectomy?

As a baby or as a young child, chubby, full cheeks can be found quite adorable, but as you move towards adulthood, this may not be the same. In an adult person, chubby cheeks that are present independently of one’s weight can turn into an undesirable feature, which can reduce the the definition in the face and make a person look less attractive, causing the face to be appear wider than it should be proportionally. A bichectomy operation, which has been had by many of the Hollywood stars to achieve a more triangular face and more defined facial features, can be a quite effective method to change this condition.

In almost everyone’s facial anatomy, there are small fat pads in the cheeks called  ’’bichats’‘ (Bichat’s fat pads). This name was given after the famous French anatomist and pathologist Marie François Xavier Bichat, who first described this anatomical structure. These fat pads are one of the anatomical structures that give the face its shape. Depending on the general facial anatomy and facial proportions of the person, the reduction of these fat pads by a bichectomy operation can provide a an improvement in appearance of the individual.

During a bichectomy operation, also known as ‘’Cheek Slimming’’ among people which has been made more popular by Hollywood stars, these fat pads can be reduced by partial removal through very small incisions made inside each cheek in the mouth. With this procedure, it is aimed to create slimming in the lower cheeks, along with a dented, shadowy appearance between the cheek bones and the jaw if the patient’s anatomy is suitable. The slimming effect in the cheeks can be seen in almost everyone, while the occurance of the mentioned, pleasent, dented, shadowy appearance can be said to be related to the patient’s cheekbones and jaw structure. The amount of fat tissue to be removed should be individually calculated for each patient.
