What Is a Midface Lift?

Standart facelift procedures focuses on the lower half of the face. Midface lift operations are surgical procedures designed to improve the alignment of the deeper soft tissues with the bone structure below. In time, as people age, their cheeks become flatter, and the lines around their mouths and noses become deeper. Additionally, the lower eyelids are pulled down and become longer vertically. Dark areas may develop under the eyes. As a result of these changes, the eyes and face appear older and more tired.

Restoring the sagging cheeks to their original position will make the cheek area fuller and make the eyes appear softer and younger. Standart facelift procedures do not affect the midface much. Therefore, if there is a need for it, facelift surgeries can be combined with midface lift surgeries. Midface lift procedures are effective surgical interventions that can improve the appearance of the cheeks as well as the lower eyelids.

People with sagging, flattened cheeks and irregular cheek contour who are generally healthy can be good candidates for a midface lift operation. As many people considering to get a facelift surgery can also have these issues, midfacelift and facelift surgeries are often performed together. Also, younger people who are not in need of a facelift surgery can benefit quite a lot from a midface lift alone.

In some of the patients, the volume loss in the midface cannot be restored alone by a midface lift operation. When repositioning of the tissues of the midface alone is not enough, in suitable patients, this area may need to be volumized with grafting, fillers or implants.

Midface lift surgeries can be combined with complementary surgeries to the rest of the face such as eyelid surgeries, facelift and necklift surgeries, browlift surgeries and fat grafting depending on the needs and the suitability of the patient.

People with good midface position and volume look younger and more energetic. This area being this way makes the eyes more prominent.
